Hauppauge Women's Softball League Rules
Each team will keep score of the game. Scores will be
called into Donna Sieczkowski @ (631) 882-8814 by the home
team manager after the game.
Games start promptly at 6:15 pm, forfeit time is 6:25
at Applelane.Games at Hidden Pond Park start at 6:30 pm,
forfeit time is 6:45, second game starts at 8:15, forfeit
time is 8:30.
There will be no base stealing or leading off the base.
The runner can not leave the base until the ball has been
hit.
Tagging up is allowed.
The runner may advance one(1) base only on an overthrow
into dead territory (dead ball).
If the catcher drops the ball on the third strike, the
batter is out and can not run to first base.
Bunting is not allowed.
Helmets must be worn when batting and base running.
The catcher must wear protective equipment.
The pitcher will use a slow arc pitch (3-10 feet) before
the ball passes home plate. The pitchers will place both
feet on the pitching rubber, one step and release. The pitcher
will use a bowling type motion delivery. The pitcher shall
not use a windmill, slingshot, or sidearm pitch. THE PITCHER
WILL STAND 50 FEET FROM HOME PLATE. YOU MUST FORFEIT IF
YOU CAN NOT PITCH FROM 50 FEET.
The base paths are 60 feet.
Every player will bat.
A team must have a minimum of 8 players to start a game.
If less than 8 players are present, the team shall forfeit.
The 15 run rule applies. Ant team leading 15 0r more runs
after the 5th inning is the winning team.
A completed game is after 7 innings or until called for
darkness. No inning may start after 7:40 pm. If the game
is called for any reason, then the last completed inning
will be considered for the winning team.
Infield fly rule does not apply.
Rain-outs will be played on the Friday immediately following
the scheduled game, unless there is a conflict of a prescheduled
game.
Two bases will be used for the first base. One for the
fielder and one for the runner.
There is no sliding.
One courtesy runner is allowed per inning and must be
the last recorded out.
Players must be at least thirty (30) years old by the
date of the first game, and must be a Hauppauge School District
resident ( unless grand fathered in).
When playing at Apple Lane field, if the ball reaches
the woods on a fly with no one touching it, it is a home
run. If the ball reaches the woods after being touched by
a player, then it’s all you can get.
Head to head competition during the season will decide
all the tie decisions. If this does not resolve standings,
then most runs scored against involved teams will be the
determining factor.
Any player not on the roster will not be able to play.
Bring ID (license) to all games.
All coaches should have copy of permit to HPP in there
possession when playing at the field.
No alcoholic beverages are permitted at the fields.
Children are not permitted on the field during the pre-game
warm-ups nor during the game.
Thrown Bat: A batter who throws a bat will be ejected
from the game.
ANY PLAYER OR COACH WHO MAKES ANY PHYSICAL CONTACT OR
VERBAL ABUSE WITH AN UMPIRE OR ANOTHER PLAYER WILL BE SUBJECT
TO BEING EXPELLED FROM THE LEAGUE.
Scheduled and rescheduled games will not be changed.
Additional hitters may be added after the start of the
game, however, they must be added to the bottom of the order
and be in uniform.
All judgmental calls by the umpires cannot be disputed.
Only arbitration will be considered if the rules have not
been adhered to.
There is a maximum if three (3) walks per inning.
There is a maximum of 10 (ten) runs per inning, except
for the last inning where it is all you can get.
Each team will have a sponsor of $250.00.
A copy of each players license must be submitted to their
coach prior to the first (1st) game.
Only COACHES will make decisions on the field. If coach is not present, then any woman in uniform will take her place that is on the roster.
